DON'T MISS "THE ARTICULATE LANDSCAPE" THIS SEPTEMBER 3rd and 10th AS PART OF THE PHILLY FRINGE FESTIVAL!
Save the date for my multi-disciplinary Philly Fringe Festival show on September 3 at 3 pm and September 10 at 3 pm and 6:30 pm. Tickets are on sale now! The evening show on September 10th will be followed by a reception in the bar and music sets from the performers later in the evening...another show that's included in the price of admission.
We'll be performing at my usual stomping ground in Philadelphia, at the Fire on 4th and Girard. It will be readings from a novel-in-progress called “The Articulate Landscape." It will be songs. It will be illustrations. They'll all go together in strange and wonderful way.
While the focus will be on a staged reading of the stories, not everyone will be laying down their instruments. In addition to the amped up “selected shorts” style-reading with an eclectic cast --- expect guest readers as diverse as Tom Kehoe, founder of Yards Brewing Company and Freddie Berman, drummer for Bluenote artist Amos Lee--- my band, Sweetbriar Rose, will be providing a complementary soundtrack to the exploratory stories, featuring tight harmonies and a focus on acoustic instruments. New York illustrator Diksha Watwani will illuminate the text with earthy illustrations.
Nominally about a woman who is considering becoming a book, The Articulate Landscape explores themes of transition and metamorphoses, the tension among theistic, polytheistic, and animistic world views, and the effect of the collective unconsciousness on our personal narrative and myth-making. The absurdist premise is ready made for comedy, erotica, magical realism, and a deliberately permeable sense of what’s waking and what’s dreaming. More than anything, it's a love story about stories.

Anyone who buys tickets for the September 10th, 6:30 performance of The Articulate Landscape should plan on staying for a reception in the bar at the Fire for food from Kennett Restaurant and a Yards Brewing Company beer!
